You suddenly get the feeling that your heart is beating out of your chest and you’re confused as to why it’s happening. Well, the trigger is different for everyone. For some people it can be a fear of public speaking, for others it’s feeling a loss of control when stuck in a traffic jam and then there are those who can’t even identify what brought it on. The bottom line though is almost all of it is caused due to having excessive amounts of stress in ones life.

When you get a panic attack, what’s happening is your sympathetic nervous system is activated and adrenalin is pumped throughout your body. You are put in the “Fight or Flight” mode as your body feels it is in danger. The truth is your body is not in danger and the fear is irrational and unjustified, but your body just doesn’t care. The situation ends up getting worse when you begin fearing your body’s response as it only feeds the panic attack and makes it worse!
How do you stop it?
Well eventually, your parasympathetic nervous system will kick in, which is responsible for bringing your body back into balance and restoring order to your body, it’s an inevitability.
